A New Way To Handle Dry Skin
My clients usually tell me. I have dry skin and I've tried everything! What type of moisturizer should I use? How often should I exfoliate my face, everyday? Once a week? What do you recommend? And what time of the day should I do this, morning or night? Believe it or not, one crucial step is needed just as much as moisturizing. Adding this step can keep your skin hydrated and plump during the next few winter months. Exfoliating Is As Crucial As Moisturizing Believe it or not, for treating dry skin, exfoliation is as crucial as moisturizing. One of the common skin issues that go hand in hand with mature skin is that it is also tends to be dry and flaky. The reason for this is cell turnover. Most babies have beautiful skin, soft and supple and the main reason is due to their very-high cell turnover rate. This slows down with age and you might be safe up to about 25 years old but it will only get slower from there on out. Exfoliation increases your cell turnover and triggers your skin's healing mechanism and by doing so regularly you'll ensure that you'll always be a fresh face beauty. I like to stay away from overly aggressive methods of exfoliation as I like to give the skin a chance to naturally correct the damage. I like to use things like the Clarisonic Skin Brush while I take a shower as my skin is prepared by the warm water and steam. This makes the process of exfoliation infinitely less irritating if you have sensitive skin. The brush is gentle enough that you can use it with your favorite scrub or face wash, making it very efficient method of getting rid of dead skin, and cleaning up clogged pores. I alternate this with my Exfoliating Mask and depending on how deep of a cleanse I want, I can do it as a mask for 15 minutes or just scrub and rinse. This you can do in or out of the shower. You should do one of these steps at least every 2 to 3 days but never everyday as you might irritate your skin. This step also prepares your skin to readily absorb nutrients and moisturizing agents. You have gotten rid of dead, flaky skin and now can use a moisturizer or hydrating serum. You can change the Clarisonic brush head for the body brush while still in the shower and right after use a body balm. The result is soft, smooth and supple skin all over. Doing these two steps regularly will give you firmer (high cell turnover),dewier and plumper skin. These two simple steps are potent and are in my opinion the perfect anti-agers as anyone can use them no matter what your age. Doing them as part of your regular skincare routine will turn your skin silky and dewy.
