Get Red Carpet Ready Skin For Your Wedding
How To Have Glowing Skin The Day of Your Wedding A bride wants to look her best, right down to flawless skin on her wedding day. Since beauty is more than skin deep, Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and founder of Joanna Vargas Salon and Skincare Collection, answers some wedding day skin-care concerns. 0118_bridalskincare Q: Makeup and skin care probably come after the finding the gown and booking a reception hall, but should women prioritize their skin and makeup on the big day? A: Absolutely! Skin is big because women want it to glow and not look like they are wearing tons of makeup. I always tell brides that when you've been married 10 or 20 years you want to pull out those photos and know you did everything to make yourself feel beautiful. Q: Can little imperfections be dealt with so a bride looks terrific in photos and real life? A: Sure. While going for perfect sounds nice, I think the goal should be to go for what makes you feel confident. If you get a breakout, try and sleep with a mask on the day before. It will alleviate the inflammation so you can cover the red mark with a bit of makeup. Q: What would you suggest for a bride with oily skin? A: Get a cleansing facial two weeks before the wedding so you have time to recover before the big day. Brides are usually stressed, so I like cleanses to be done early. Then closer to the wedding day you can do a peel or a light treatment to make sure you look perfect. Q: Any tips for brides with dry skin? A: Besides drinking water, I would make sure to supplement shakes and salads with avocado. I would also drink green juices since that will help hydrate you from the inside. Q: What can a bride do to prevent blemishes in the week or so before the wedding? A: Sleeping in an exfoliating mask would be the best, and one that contains anti-inflammatories would be perfect! Q: What's the benefit of a facial, and how long before the wedding should it be done? A: Facials make the pores seem minimized, so they are always good, but the week of the wedding I usually suggest my Triple Crown Facial. Your wedding day is your own red carpet moment, and de-puffing and lifting are awesome for that. Q: What's your opinion of getting a spray tan or using bronzer? A: If you have a place you like already for that, a tone or two darker than your natural skin tone is nice for the big day. Q: Any other tips or suggestions? A: Don't drink alcohol the week of the wedding. Most brides are stressed, and relatives arriving daily doesn't help. Drinking will make you puffy and tired-looking, so try to skip it. Lastly, I look forward to seeing you at the salon where you will be dazzled by how great your skin looks. Call today to buy your packages and make your appointments at 212.949.2350.
