Self Care at Home: DIY Masks to Soothe Your Face

Self Care at Home: DIY Masks to Soothe Your Face

We are all sitting at home these days with, most times, not much to do. You work from home all day and just feel blah after not changing out of your pajamas from the night before. You stay at home on the weekends watching your favorite TV shows and movies. You’ve turned into a world-class baker with all of the Tik Tok recipes you've been making. But now it’s time for a little self-care at home. Joanna has created multiple DIY masks that you can make at home with just a few ingredients that will soothe your face and make you feel revived and refreshed!

DIY Masks

There’s really nothing more soothing for your face than a mask. Masks moisturize, de-puff, promote elasticity, and relieve skin sensitivities. The fifteen to twenty minutes you spend wearing a mask is also the time you're forced to drop all chores and errands and just sit back and relax. If you don’t have masks at home, you can easily make them with the following simple recipes. Just combine the ingredients in a small bowl and mix to form a paste. For one minute, rub the paste onto your skin using the tips of your fingers in upward strokes, then leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Don’t forget to mix up a fresh mask every time you plan to use one!

Hydrating Mask

The name says it all! This creamy mask soothes, moisturizes, and feels like butter on your skin.

½ cup plain yogurt

½ avocado

¼ cup honey

Brightening Mask

Does your skin need an instant glow? This silky mask will give you bright, pliable, hydrated skin in no time.

1 tablespoon green tea, made fresh from loose leaves or a green tea bag

2 teaspoons honey

2 teaspoons plain yogurt

1 teaspoon coconut oil

Anti Aging Mask

If you’ve looked in the mirror and fretted over your fine lines and wrinkles, mix up this mask and apply it regularly. It lightly exfoliates while reducing inflammation and fighting sun damage.

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 ½ teaspoon cumin seed oil

1 teaspoon olive oil

Cooling Mask

Rich in aloe vera, this soothing mask is perfect if you’ve spent too long in the sun. The oat or wheat grass detoxes, stimulates the lymphatic system, and gives your tired skin the nutrients it needs.

¼ cup plain yogurt

3 tablespoons of fresh or pure aloe vera gel

2 tablespoons oat grass juice or wheat grass juice

Matcha Glow Mask

Is your skin looking dull and tired, with a noticeable lack of suppleness? This light mask strengthens your capillary walls and increases circulation, giving your skin a smooth, pillowy softness.

Add water and matcha powder first, stir, then add other ingredients and combine.

1 ½ teaspoons water

1 tablespoon matcha powder

1 ½ teaspoons honey

1 tablespoon olive oil

Masks are the perfect combination of pampering and skin rejuvenation, providing a host of ways to improve your skin’s tone, texture, hydration, and more. Just using a mask twice a week will dramatically improve your skin over time.
