DIY Exfoliation: Pumpkin and Yam Enzyme Mask

DIY Exfoliation: Pumpkin and Yam Enzyme Mask
exfoliants on the market today. Not only are they effective ways to sweep skin clean, but they often smell amazing and are usually much more gentle than traditional mechanical exfoliants. One great way to incorporate these fruit enzymes into your skincare routine without breaking the bank is by making a DIY pumpkin or yam face mask! Beyond being seasonally appropriate and great for all skin types, pumpkin and yam face masks are jam packed with alpha hydroxy acids (or AHAs), which brighten and smooth the skin. Pumpkins and yams also contain Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which help to soften and plump the look of your skin for an ageless appearance. Keep reading for a breakdown on how to concoct this special fall skin-saving potion, direct from our friend Sarah Howard at BeautyBanter! Ingredients:
  • 2 tsp. of pureed pumpkin (fresh or canned)
  • ½ tsp. of honey
  • 1 tsp. of milk or Greek yogurt (fat free for oily skin, 2% for dry skin)
Directions: Mix all ingredients in a bowl until smooth and apply to clean, damp skin (post-shower is ideal, as the enzymes work better if the skin is slightly damp). Leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse with a clean washcloth and follow up with moisturizer. Use once a week and make a new batch for each use!
