DIY Face Mask Recipes - Joanna Vargas

There’s really nothing more soothing for your face than a mask. Masks moisturize, de-puff, promote elasticity, and relieve the look of skin sensitivities. The 15-20 minutes minutes you spend wearing a mask is the perfect opportunity to sit back and relax. If you're looking for a little self care time, but don’t have any masks at home, take a look at these simple recipes to make your own!

Antioxidant/Anti-Aging Mask

This light, oily mask hydrates, tightens pores, and reduces inflammation, making your skin noticeably brighter. The almond meal exfoliates, smoothing out wrinkles to help turn back the clock.

2 tablespoons grapeseed oil

5 teaspoons almond meal

1 teaspoon warmed honey

2 drops rose oil

Clear Skin Mask

If you’re bothered by persistent breakouts or dull, oily skin, this soothing mask will help brighten, clear, and reduce surface bacteria.

1 cup plain yogurt

½ cup strawberries, mashed

½ cup almond meal

Splash of raw apple cider vinegar

Cranberry Mask

If you’ve been outside, battling the elements, your skin may look as worn out as you are. This wrinkle-fighting mask boosts collagen production, diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, and prevents free radical damage.

1/2 cup pureed cranberries

3 tablespoons plain yogurt

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tablespoon honey

Pineapple Enzyme Mask

If you have dull, sensitive skin, this mask- rich in fruit enzymes- will exfoliate, resurface, and stimulate your lymphatic system, restoring your glow.

¼ cup pineapple, mashed

2 tablespoons almond meal

1 teaspoon coconut milk

Brightening Mask

Does your skin need instant glow? This silky mask will give you bright, pliable, hydrated skin in no time.

1 tablespoon green tea, made fresh from loose leaves or tea bag

2 teaspoons honey

2 teaspoons plain yogurt

1 teaspoon coconut oil

Combine the ingredients in a small bowl and mix to form a paste. For one minute, rub the paste onto your skin using the tips of your fingers in upward strokes, then leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Mix up a fresh mask everytime you plan to use one!
