Say Good-Bye to Dull Skin
Regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world and legend of the silver screen, Sofia Loren, shares her thoughts of immortal beauty and youthful vibrancy.
“There is a fountain of youth. It is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love.” ~ Sophia Loren
Beauty At Any Age
One of the most sought after qualities of youthful skin is that healthy GLOW. And for many, makeup has become the answer to glowing skin. Sure you can fake it but there is nothing like the real thing. Follow this easy steps to a glow that’s envious.
In Your 20s
Stress, poor sleep, and not washing your face nightly are the main culprits in your 20s. Skimping on Z’s will impair your skin’s repair cycle, making your skin sensitive, dry and will increase stress related hormones that trigger inflammation and acne.
How To Prevent It
Use a face cleanser but NOT soap. A face cleanser does more than JUST clean. It should clean, heal or prevent damage to your skin. Also using a gentle exfoliant at least twice a week will remove dead cells and bring new ones to the surface, giving you a healthy glow.
In Your 30s
The rate of cell turnover slows down at this age diminishing your glow. If nothing is done, your skin will began to show minor signs of aging, fine line and wrinkles. Also, surface bumps and other skin maladies take longer to heal causing uneven texture and dullness.
What To Do
You need to add a serum. A serum is a supercharged skin care formula that is made with smaller particles and by design can penetrate below the surface into the second layer of it, the dermis, effecting nourishment and healing.
At this stage you can also do enzymatic masks as light peels to supercharge your routine.
In Your 40s
At this stage of the game you need to get aggressive about your skin care routine. Cell turnover has dramatically slowed down and hormonal shifts during this decade can make your skin thinner, flakier or ashy in tone.
Step It Up
You need to add everything above and chose a skin firming serum that’s super charged with antioxidants, essential oils or hyaluronic acid to prevent dryness.
You should also think about a night cream or hydrating mask as this will slow down aging considerably.
In Your 50s
Deep seated sun damage, daily pollutants and lifestyle choices have caused considerable damage to your skin. Collagen and elastin fibers are broken down and NOT repaired as fast due to skin cell turnover and other factors, creating a yellowish cast in your skin.
Go To The Mattresses
This is where you can’t pull punches any more. Not only do you want to repair and build but also ward off future damage to your skin.
Look for serums that build collagen and elastin, hydrate and brighten your skin and are full of antioxidants. Your body’s ability to repair itself must be boosted by vitamins, minerals and foods in order to increase collagen and elastin.
It is my philosophy that there can be beauty at ANY age!
And it is also my belief that the best skin care routine is one that prevents so that you stay youthful and beautiful no matter what your age. A youthful appearance imbues life and confidence in everything you do.
