How Do Organic Beer Facials Benefit Skin?

Beer, one of the oldest and much loved alcoholic beverages has been much maligned as the cause of beer bellies and frat boys behaving badly. Recent studies show that it might not be so bad for you after all, though you need to drink it in moderation and even better yet when used for the purposes of health and beauty.

In ancient Egypt, the birthplace of beer- and the many beauty treatments -women used it topically to tone, refresh their skin and treat a variety of skin ailments. Modern research has proven that brewer’s yeast, which is found in the sediment of beer, can help improve the symptoms of acne by killing off bacteria and slowing sebum production.

The ingredients in beer have numerous anti-aging benefits especially brewer’s yeast, which has an abundance of riboflavin, pantothenic acid, biotin, and vitamin B12. More commonly used as a dietary supplement, brewer’s yeast is beneficial in balancing the skin’s pH and is a great source of antioxidants and B vitamins that help to keep skin smooth and supple. Barley is chockfull of linoleic acids, selenium, iron, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, and copper as well as being rich in vitamins B1 and B3 – all necessary for beautiful skin. Hops have exfoliating action to speed skin cell regeneration for a clear, healthy complexion.

Beer spas are popular in Austria, Germany and Japan. One of the best beer spas is in the Czech Republic where one can enjoy a cold one from the brewery while having a warm yeasty soak in tub of brewer’s yeast, malt, hops and pure mineral water-a beer Jacuzzi that opens the pores and draws out toxins while infusing the skin with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
